In , after a hiatus, Oxnard LGBTQ+ Community returned to support the "Black Lives Matter" movement and with the collaboration of local organizations and community members, we created the first annual LGBTQ+ Pride Parade and Festival to celebrate and advocate for LGBTQ+ people of color in OXNARD and surrounding areas.

Oxnard, California is a beautiful city that is the largest part of the Oxnard-Thousand Oaks-Ventura area and is located close enough to Los Angeles to be considered part of the greater Los Angeles area. Oxnard is one of the main transportation hubs in the area, with several different bus lines and railroad stations crossing through the city.

Community members from Oxnard and other nearby cities came together to champion Black lives through their Pride celebration Friday afternoon. With the help of local residents, the groups put the event together in just a few weeks. Other community groups, including The Lab , Ventura County Women's Forum, Sketchbook Society and Viva Oxnard, also volunteered.

Who are we? Our organization continues to grow and develop more programs and events to support the community. For example, in we created the Spanish Parent Support Group and in we created the "Transition Mission" program that provides free clothing for the transgender or gender non-comforming community.

We are Ventura County's LGBTQ community. We believe that all people deserve a diverse, inclusive, accepting and welcoming safe space. In lifting each other up even when it's hard, we build allies, opportunities and resources to live our best lives and help those around us do the same.
